Tirzepatide
Also known as Mounjaro, Zepbound.
What it is
Tirzepatide is a dual agonist: it activates two gut hormone receptors, GLP-1 and GIP, where semaglutide activates one. It is an approved medicine, available as Mounjaro for type 2 diabetes and Zepbound for weight management.
It is currently the most effective approved weight-loss medicine available, and the only one to show greater weight loss than semaglutide in a direct head-to-head trial.{{CITE:surmount5-aronne-2025}}
