Liraglutide
Also known as Saxenda, Victoza.
What it is
Liraglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist approved as Saxenda for weight management and Victoza for type 2 diabetes. It arrived years before semaglutide and was the first GLP-1 approved specifically for obesity.
Newer agents have largely taken its place, and it remains worth knowing about: it has the longest real-world safety record in the class, and it is frequently cheaper and more available.
