Bremelanotide Analogues
Also known as melanocortin agonists, MC1R/MC3R/MC4R agonists.
What it is and what it does
This entry covers the broader melanocortin agonist family: the class containing PT-141, Melanotan I, Melanotan II and setmelanotide, plus a range of research analogues available under various names. Three members are approved for narrow indications; most research analogues are unapproved and untested in humans.
These compounds are often confused with one another, and one principle, receptor selectivity, explains the entire family's behaviour.
