Collagen Peptides
Also known as hydrolysed collagen, collagen hydrolysate, collagen powder.
What it is
Collagen peptides are collagen protein (usually from bovine, porcine or marine sources) broken into short fragments by hydrolysis so they can be absorbed. They are a widely used supplement backed by multiple human trials, available as powders, capsules and drinks.
This is almost certainly the peptide product most readers of this book have already taken, often without thinking of it as a peptide at all. It is included because it is a natural entry point to the category, and because the evidence around it is a useful calibration for everything else.
